  • Progressive side wagers: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker commonly have one of these. You generally put a wager (a dollar is the normal value) to try to win a side jackpot that could be upwards of $25,000. Although huge jackpots like this are very appealing, they’re also particularly complicated to succeed. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to hit this bet. Also, picture this- you play 20 hands and put the side wager every time. That is 20 dollars you should have used towards the actual game wager instead of a sucker wager. Just think about what you might have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds using that 20 dollars.
  • Single number bets in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has just one. This shifts the overall house edge from 2.63% with one zero wheel to a huge 5.26percent in American. The single number wager has just a 1 in 38 chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red wagers as a substitute which have a much lower casino advantage.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and anyway you wager on it, the house edge can be a whopping 25%. Yes, that isn’t a error. Because of the large amount of numbers you have to choose, it’s not recommended to bet on Keno to often. A couple of times for entertainment, maybe. But don’t spend all your money on it or you’ll quickly find yourself beaten.
